Translated from the
book:
Ekerö
prästgård (Ekerö rectory), Uppland
Three runestone fragments have been found at Ekerö rectory.
They were located 8 meters north of the
northern gable of the rectory, a couple of decimeters below
current ground level. The old Torslunda farm was located at
the site where the fragments were found; it seems likely
that the runestone pieces were embedded in the foundation.
The three parts, which proved to be a
perfect fit, were assembled.
They are kept in the rectory. Fig. 16.
(See photo above).
Grey, fine-grained
granite.
Dimensions of the carving surface 50 X 25 cm; the thickness
of the stone is 29 cm. Seven runes remain of the
inscription; of these only two are undamaged: . . . tain þin
. . . (this stone).
The newly found
fragment is a piece of an unknown runestone from the 11th
century.
Kalle is thinking...
I have received different information about
where the fragments are.
The oldest recorded location is Ekerö rectory
(formerly Torslunda), but they do not appear to be there
today. We have searched together with the new owner.
The second piece of information is from the
website "Runor"
where Asknäs farm by Ekerö church is instead marked as the
location of the fragments.
Have the fragments been moved to Asknäs farm
or is the original information from the wrong farm? I can't
find any answers to this but will try to figure it out in
the future...
Ekerö rectory vs Thors lund?
When we still talk about the different names
of the discovery site, Ekerö prästgård which is a bit newer
and Thorslunda which is the older one.
Thorslunda consists of two words, the name of
the god Thor and lund which is a holy place, location/area.
In other words, the aria is in ancient times a holy
aria/location dedicated to the popular god Thor.
