Telling details:
The extra carving on the edge of the
runestone allows us to get close to Ärnfast.
Ärnfast is still new as a rune carver and he
is afraid for his reputation. He absolutely does not want to
make any mistakes in the hard granite, mistakes that will
remain forever.
But when, after careful work, he is finished
with the front and the client seems satisfied, he relaxes.
He is proud of his work and decides to make his signature on
the edge of the stone.
A little too quickly and without planning, he
carves wrongly and is forced to redo his work. So there they
are anyway... the carving marks that will forever tell us
that Ärnfast made a mistake.
When the runestone is finally painted, only
the correct chisel marks are painted, then the mistake is
not visible and the runestone looks good anyway... until
today, 1000 years later, when we paint in all the chisel
marks.
Visit:

July 2023-04-03 1:30 PM
The runestone goes into shadow at 2:00 PM.
Sunlight on the front between 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
The mostly shaded carving on the edge is almost invisible
due to lichens.
