U 123
Karlberg, now destroyed

Runic inscription:

Sigfast and Ärnfast they carve (the stone) for themselves

sikfastr : ok : ernfastr : þaiR : iuku : at : sik :

Year 1624
Johannes Bureus makes this drawing of the runestone and then Sigfast's S-rune is included, the one missing from the later drawing.

Year 1864
The rune slab is blown to pieces when the railway is built. A smaller piece of it is said to have been found in the railway wall, "opposite the pond in Karlbergs park" but has now disappeared again.

1905-1914
A few more pieces of the rune carving were found in an outbuilding at "Ingentings gård", but these too have now also disappeared.

The runecarver:

I think this is Ärnfast's second rune carving (or first) and he does it together with someone called Sigfast. Both have the surname -fast so they should be relatives, maybe even brothers.

Earnest future work as a rune carver will be carried out mainly in today's Ekerö municipality. The runic carving I guess is his first is U 52 in Edeby on Lovö which is also directly on the rock slab.
