Runic inscription
..-in : God helps ...
…-in : kuþ hialbi …

The runes have an unusual shape where the
bistaves (those that determine the sound) sit very far down
on the main staff. The bistaves on the rune L sit so
far down that it almost forms the sound for N.

The B rune is also unusual, although
that variant occurs from time to time, even here in Ekerö
municipality on runestone U 34...
but it is still not the same runecarver.

The left picture is facing right for
reading, the right as it sits on the wall.
But the runestone in the wall does not have
to be upside down because we do not know where on the
runestone these words are. What we do know is that the words
"god help ..." usually come at the end of a runic
inscription.

The runestone fragment embedded in the
stone wall.
History
When the old barn in Nibbla burned down in
1984, this fragment was found in the barn's foundation.
Today, an artist's studio stands on the same site and the
fragment of the runestone was inserted into the wall next to
it.
But somewhere in the area, the other
fragments remain, so keep your eyes open!
